TITLE: 1v1 Diamond Shooting Drill

TAGS: U9, U10, U11, U12, U13, U14, U15, U16, U18, 7-a-side, 5-a-side, Developing, Advanced, Passing, Dribbling, Shooting, Defending

DESCRIPTION: A passing combination drill with movement off the ball that finishes with a 1v1 to goal. Players who miss the shot become the keeper, adding a fun competitive twist.

OBJECTIVES:
- Improve passing combination play and movement off the ball
- Develop finishing in a 1v1 situation
- Practice defensive positioning in a 1v1

EQUIPMENT: Cones (4 in a diamond shape), Soccer balls, Full-size goal, Goalkeeper

MAIN ACTIVITY: Set cones in a diamond shape about 20 yards from goal, each cone about 12 yards apart. One player each starts at cones 2, 3, and 4. Remaining players form a line behind cone 1 with a ball supply. Player 1 passes to Player 2 and follows their pass to Player 2's position. Player 2 passes to Player 3 and quickly moves into defensive position. Player 3 passes to Player 4 and takes Player 4's position. Player 4 receives the ball and immediately takes on Player 2 in a 1v1 battle to goal. If Player 4 doesn't score, they become the keeper. If they score, the keeper remains.

COACHING POINTS:
- Good passing combination
- Quick movement off the ball
- Good defensive posture and positioning
- Shooter beats defender with speed and gets shot on target

PROGRESSIONS:
- If players struggle: reduce the defender to 50% intensity
- If still struggling: remove the defensive player entirely
