TITLE: 4v4 With 5 Goals Inside The 18

PLAYERS: 9 players

TAGS: U9, U10, U11, U12, U13, U14, U15, U16, U18, 7-a-side, 5-a-side, Developing, Advanced, Shooting, Goalkeeping, Small-Sided Games

DESCRIPTION: A favourite finishing drill using 4 small goals at the corners of the penalty area plus the full-size goal guarded by a keeper. Teams attack different goals and can score in the full-size goal only with a header or volley.

OBJECTIVES:
- Develop finishing inside the 18-yard box
- Improve switching the point of attack and spacing
- Practice chipping, crossing, heading, and composed finishing
- Build communication and vision

EQUIPMENT: Small Pugg Goals or training sticks (4 at corners of penalty area), Full-size goal, Goalkeeper, Soccer balls (abundant supply for coach), Pinnies

MAIN ACTIVITY: Set up 4 small goals at the 4 corners of the penalty area. Keeper in the full-size goal. Split into 2 teams of 4. Coach at the top of the penalty area with a large supply of balls. Blue team attacks goals 1 and 3 and defends goals 2 and 4. Red team attacks goals 2 and 4 and defends goals 1 and 3. Scoring in a small goal = 1 point. Both teams can score in the full-size goal only via a header or volley = 2 points. When the keeper makes a save, they return ball to the coach who restarts with a pass or 50/50 ball.

COACHING POINTS:
- Creating finishing opportunities
- Switching the point of attack
- Vision of surrounding players (both offensively and defensively)

PROGRESSIONS:
- Easier: add perimeter players at the top of the box to keep pace up
- Harder: limit to 1-touch or 2-touch; have perimeter players serve first-time for big goal opportunities
